Thanks for letting me know the dates you can't make it, I am still looking at the calendar on this and on the amount of days I was thinking 2 or 3

I vote for 2 days diving and use the rest of the time for transit etc.


Also....don't forget to call Athens to see about any problems with getting our own dock area and of course hotel availability!

Count me in!!--WW-do you think we want some LDS sponsorship or maybe we could ask a local computer manufacturer to furnish some loaners? I think we might know a local single diver who loves to smoke briskets, sausage and turkeys who might participate if we asked him. If we have enough participants, Greg might come back down and let people dive Cressi dry suits. Or Rick might show up with some Dacor dry suits and dive euipment. Just a thought.

Narwhal...those are AWESOME ideas! We'll need Miss Dejah to get a head count and finalize a date as soon as she can so we can see about getting some fun stuff to add to the trip! Woo Hoo!!! This will be fun!

Ok All, Here are some details and questions on the Weekend Fling at Athens Scuba Park. Please let me know which weekend will work better for you and if you want to rough it by camping out or staying in a Hotel and we'll go from there.

Weekends -

April 23rd, 24th & 25th or

May 14th, 15th & 16th - The lake will be warmer in May for those who hate cooler weather and water


Also, does everyone want to stay in a Hotel in town or would you rather stay at the campgrounds and camp out?

Here are more details for all:

Athen's Scuba Park Hours: Wed - Sun 8am to 6pm

Admission is $15.00 per day if staying in town if your camping add $5.00 per day to the total, also if you stay in the park the $5.00 does include night diving if you so choose.

For those who may not be familar with the Park here is the website http://www.athensscubapark.com

Once we have a weekend decided upon, Shannon from the Park said she will reserve a space for us and a dock area.

Hotel or camping...I can go either way!
That weekend in April is the trip they are planning to go to BlueHole NM which folks like Gar and others were thinking of doing as well as Athens so maybe the May date is better.
As for additional fun....with more notice we might get more people especially from the DFW area and then we can combine that with some awesome manufacturer's perks like diving new gear or perhaps doing a DAN research dive or something else fun...thanks to Narwhal.

I know that I can do the April dates, but I don't have confirmation on my Flower Gardens trip dates (working) past May 8. If I am NOT working those dates, then I am good to go there as well.

I vote for camping on the grounds...they have an awesome hot-tub on the premises and Calvin is a hoot to sit around the camp fire with telling stories.

I am looking forward to this and getting to meet all of my new friends...Good job Dejah. If you need anything or any help, let me know.

Hey I'm all for the camping out, I think it would be a blast and that would save on having to take gear to and from a Hotel, I'm also more likely to choose May myself, but I wanted to give both options to see what everyone else can do.

Thanks also Zendiver for offering the help on this.. I'm sure once we get a date set and the reservations made at Athens' we can all chip in some fun ideas for the weekend such as what WW and Narwhal mentioned..

BUMMER! I have to work the May 15&16 weekend! Now I can't go that weekend...can we do it the weekend after?? That would make it May 22 & 23

Ok all, per the responses I'm receiving back and the OOPs on April with those dates interfering with the Blue Hole diving in NM, the dates set for this weekend are as follows.


MAY 21st, 22nd & 23rd.


If you need to use one or two of these dates as travel dates that will be fine, I personally will be going out on the 21st and camping onsite so if anyone wishes to do a night dive that evening you will need to get there before 6pm when the park closes to the public.

So tell all your friends and come one come all, it's going to be a fun filled weekend, however please still let me know if you have a preference on Hotel or Camping out as I will need to make sure everyone is taken care of.

I'm good to go....if anyone is coming from Houston or further south, let me know and maybe we could all ride together. I CAN'T WAIT....this will be a lot of fun.

Yea~~~~~ I can now go!!! Sounds like a blast! We'll hook up with Narwhal to see what we can do for some 'extra' fun things to do that weekend. He is also thinking about setting up a navigation course for anyone needing to do Navigation for their advanced open water certification. He might be able to have some students come out and join us....it will be a party for all ages!!!

Just let me know what else you need for me to do to help! Remind me to pm you some more thoughts I had as well!!!!

Too much fun...now we can still plan to try and do Blue Hole as well!!
