Lubold...don't leave! i got to joke aka flirt with you to announce that i was going to bonaire! you're a wealth of knowledge, and even though i know i go off-topic a lot, i lurk and glean info like everyone else - especially on the serious threads. sometimes, things just don't pertain to me. i.e. i'm a newbie, so backplates and wings are way, WAY over my head at the moment since i'm still getting comfortable in deep water. but, i try to hit every topic because i know someone will say a funny remark (a joke, or a new nickname) which kind of breaks up the technical aspect monotony (remember i suffer from ADD, so someone box my ear if my eyes ever glaze over...:D) so i can still be reading pages of suggestion, get the information, and still feel as if i'm enjoying the easygoing nature that most of our divers have.

i agree with DL. i recently went through the pages of members and clicked on everyone that had few or no postings and wondered why they weren't involved in the board. it's great to grow and have new members and i'm loathe to have anyone turn away from our board because we're not serious enough, but i also wonder sometimes why we have close to 300 members and only 30 will vote when we have polls. where's everyone going?

but i still appreciate the fun atmosphere. i really do want to dive with everyone on this site someday, and i agree with michelle aka normskid that the freedom of the boards allows each of us to be comfortable with each other for when we finally meet in person. it's really hard to hide the person that you are when your post count gets really high!

p.s. i'm with TF...not sharing a room with anyone with TWO colons.

As a newbee here I would say keep things as they are. If someone gets to out of hand you can always PM them and mention it. I'm still getting to know folks, but the group is pretty dang fun! :lam:

Ok, l have the solution...rather than putting constraints or rules in place, l believe that if all the singles went out and tried to have at least 1 woopie session per month, that a lot of the innuendo and off topic strays would diminish. Even better, if a significant other was a part of daily life, that the frequency of strays would be virtually eliminated. lt is a simple solution that would benefit all involved on the board and especially those who were able to finally *get some* on a regular basis. :D
if it ain't broke, fix it till it is
what if the hokey pokey really IS what it's all about?

Would that be above or below the waves ?

Ahem Admiral H- You're the lucky one around here...Marital Status Spoken For but Buddyless- the thing you gotta do is get your S.O. into diving so that you can frolic in & out of the waves!!! Don't worry, we'd still dive with you!!! :taz:

Any more real suggestions or comments about what we should do about topics wandering?

No, I think the consensus seems to be as quoted earlier. Since it was discussed so openly, I hope that we'll all be more aware & respectful in the future. If some fun develops, perhaps the starters will go for starting a thread of their own in the non-diving forum or go to PM to continue.
