Because people who think that it could never happen don't have the capacity within them to love like that. They can't find it within themselves, so it must be fictional.

Speak for yourself - I am one of the ones who answered "This is a hypothetical question that could never happen". and I do not appreciate your derogatory categorization. I am an atheist - I do not believe in souls, ergo - I do not believe in soul mates.

P.S. I can, have and ,hopefully, will love with the best of them.

My bad. I'll fix it. :o

WARNING If you are easily offended - you WILL be offended - If you are NOT easily offended - you WILL be offended!

Because people who think that it could never happen don't have the capacity within them to love like that. They can't find it within themselves, so it must be fictional.

Then she decided family came first (elderly parents and it's not exactly a quick drive across town to see them.

I'd call that an admirable quality in her....and I'd be a little more inclined to vote hell yes....or at least heck yes.

I agree.

I'm very teted to move now that I hear Canada is increasing its uptake of immigrants.... hmmmmm....

Didn't someone once say "love conquers all?"

Seriously, it is an incredible force and a wondrous thing when it evolves between two people. Now, I may not have been able to adapt to cold snow-covered mountains, but maybe your love will keep you warm. Just do it!

The only reason I say no way, is that I have a kid here in town that I just can't up and leave for some "soul mate".

I'd lean towards convincing her to move to an oceanfront condo here in Miami. Would it really take that much convincing compared to moving to . . . say . . . Kansas? :welcome:

I gues that, in the right situation, I'd go pretty far for the right person.

Wow...tough question! You see, I've been there and done that and it didn't exactly turn out so well. That's why this California woman is currently living in East Texas. Long story in between, but the way things ended up I'd have to think long and hard before considering even making a short move for someone else. That doesn't mean I wouldn't...just that it would be a very huge step for me to take.

I've been through too many fires to trust my instincts. Would I go far for the right woman? Yes!

But at this point it would take something very certain to dismantle my life to make that move. Normally, the woman that I fall head over heels for is the one that I can't/ won't be with for other reasons or is just plain wrong for me.

I have heard too many stories of people that changed their lives and left their family/friends to be with someone and found "Miss/Mr. Right" to be "Mrs./Mr. Hyde" (pick your gender because it happens to men too). Then, their support network is basically gone and this person can get away with incredible amounts of emotional abuse as the person who moved feels that they don't have anywhere to go. And like I said guys, it can happen to a male just as soon as a female.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.

Yes it is a risk doing it but you only live once.... and will one be more miserable not knowing what they are missing out on?

It wouldn't take much to get me to move out of Iowa - soul mate, companion, dive buddy, friend with benefits, drinking buddy, acquaintance with a spare couch, etc. :)
