I'm just curious regarding the board statistics box on the main page when it shows 2 guests, 10 members, and 2 anonymous members. What is an anonymous member? Someone who doesn't want to be seen on the board? How would one do that and why would one do that?

Curious minds want to know. :cool2:

I never saw much use for it personally. I would rather "expose" myself on the board! :cool2:

Yes it is! LOL!!!

Usually people who don't contribute much on the site anymore but want to see what is happening or want to contact people via pm but not let anyone know that they are online will log in anonymously. The mods can see they are logged in that way and who they are...but the general members can not see who is logged in invisibly only that some number of people are. :)

I like Brinybay prefer to be exposed...in fact I like it when Brinybay is exposed! :-D Oh wait...that is another thread.... :P

But from time to time someone may log in to quickly to check messages and perhaps does not have time to post, answer lots of questions, etc, so might do so invisibly. I know when I'm traveling sometimes I log in that way but not very often! Usually I'm as uh...*exposed* as my buddy Brinybay!!

The mods can see they are logged in that way and who they are...but the general members can not see who is logged in invisibly only that some number of people are. :)


Just a point of clarification - only admins can see who is logged on 'anonymously' - the mods cannot. :P

Can we set up a poll on who we want to see exposed? I'm much more interested in WW than Briny - remember, I was NOT a submariner when I was in the Navy.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
