Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

Where will we be able to park? Cost for Parking?
I will send out a check tonight.
-I will be driving from Houston
-I will be diving on "air"
-I will need a buddy (just for the sake of redundant air supply and the standard safety)
-I am AOW with experience in the ocean side of keys (Key West, Key Largo, USS Duane). No experience in flower garden area of Gulf.

Hi Ben!
we have you on the "checks in the mail" list!
from the Fling's website, we can unload gear at the dock and then move our cars to the other side of the levee; there is a large grass parking lot there
and don't worry about a buddy to dive with - we will have a whole boat full of buddies for you!

No cost for parking. Also, there is an open invite to congregate and party at my beach house in Galveston's west end so that people don't have to sit for hours in the restaurant in Freeport before boarding the boat.
In good conditions, which we are likely to have this time of the year, the Flower Gardens is easy diving, except that one needs to exercise the type of caution that anyone should as we are diving so far offshore. If the currents are really ripping or there are any other kind of iffy conditions, the DM will tell you and you can make your call to dive or not dive from there. I, for one, will often sit such a "currents-ripping" dive out. If conditions are good, the worst part is getting back onto the boat (and it's not that hard most of the time) .

Thanks for the offers y'all. I'll work on it, and probably talk myself into it. Continental flies Lubbock to IAH, and I know that Houston is a huge place, so I really appreciate that you can accommodate me into Intercontinental.
Not a problem.

it would be great to dive with everybody in NC, and then fly out to TX to dive with some of the same faces, and some new faces, and get A LOT of diving in at what for me will be a new dive site that everyone keeps raving about.
will have to see what i can move around at work

Hi BradfordNC,
....hope you can join us 'down here' in Texas......I think it's only fair that if us Texans are gonna pay a visit to your neck of the woods, you should reciprocate the favor and let us show you the Flower Gardens .....aka the ' Texas National Treasure '.
...so, have you committed to either/both trips yet ? ...the Flower Gardens are pretty cost-effective, this trip will have an average cost-per-dive of $ 60, which is all inclusive, including meals/bunk, NITROX and tank (but not including airfare). It's quite a good bargain especially for us 'locals', but still a good deal for fly-ins too.
