I am in for this trip! I LOVE the Flower Gardens! Lots of Diversitea for all - and if you want to see if it works to reduce fatigue - this is the place to do it! Kamala, I will send you a check :wavey:  I saw my first Whale Shark there - first dive ever at FG! And mantas on both of the other trips I have managed not to get blown out on!

Que - Let's plan to ride down together. Split gas - either of our cars is fine!

.....my deposit check goes out in the mail tomorrow !

I'll be providing the lead requirements and 2 tanks for Nurseshark and myself.

Karl

Karl,

I thought for this trip, nitrox is free if you are certified for nitrox and the tank is provided if you are diving nitrox. So this mean you only have to bring tank if you are diving air, right?

Kimmie,

My check is in the mail also. I have about 50 pounds of soft weight to share.

Que

Hi Que!

....looks like I'm a little late updating this thread, but as Kamala says, I prefer the extra capacity and bouyancy characteristics of steel tanks, so I'll be using either a HP120 or HP 130, and N.S. will be using an HP 100. (and both of us will be diving Nitrox.)

As mentioned, Gulf Diving provides 'free' AL80's to Nitrox divers, they also have 'air' AL80's available, although I'm not sure if they're also 'free' or if there's an extra rental fee for those.

....for anyone 'new' to the Flower Gardens....I'd highly suggest getting Nitrox-certified, given we'll be doing a fairly intense 4 - 5 dives daily...also, the bottom begins at 60 ft., with Stetson Bank starting at 70 ft. deep....with max depths 'allowed' of 100 - 130 ft. deep....combine this with a 'consrvative' dive computer, diving 'air' and you'll be hitting 'deco' in short order....Nitrox will make a BIG difference to your trip enjoyment/safety.

Yes I've used one of Karl's HIGH CAPACITY tanks before...and let me say I'd like to use one again! And thanks to Karl when my dive gear did not arrive on the last FG trip we did...he had a back up mask that was nearly like mine and I was able to dive!

So hey big boy...gotta an extra tank I could suck off of?

(I'll even be your extra extra redundant air supply!) :P

Hey girl! Great news and we'll put you on the trip! And yes...having diversitea will be great on this trip! We'll need it!

Got your name on the list! Thanks, kamala

p.s. we'll get a carpool list going for Dallas and those who can help pick up our fly in travelers. The last two years we've done this trip, Sandy and Que have helped to pick people up at the airport, drop them off at the boat, take them to their hotel or lodging etc. They are our MVP's of the trip!

Hey TravelGal...I forgot to answer your questions:

1. Cool on coming in 1-3 days before the trip. Anyone else want to do the same and do some sightseeing? Houston/Galveston and area is FUN!

2. We'll add you to the Post Party list!

3. Yes the boat furnishes your FREE nitrox and a FREE rental tank if diving nitrox! (If diving air you need to supply it yourself. For those who don't dive nitrox yet...we are working on getting an instructor on the trip to do the class!)

4. We can get lead...just need to know how much you need.

5. As we get closer to the trip we'll get the transport from the airport figured out. In the past two years both ScubaPunk and Sea Urchin have been invaluable in helping the group to get this organized. Worst case we'll get several rental cars and split the cost!

Hi Kamala!

...sure, no problem, I've got an HP 120 with your name on it......nothing like increasing the number of 'self-propelled pony bottles' to enhance trip safety..... :dazzler:

I will be glad to pick up people if needed as well - are all flying into Houston? Going via DFW gives one time to offgas! We'll figure it out! How do I get a password for the form - What are their options for vegetarians? After 2 days without food I get cranky! Do I need to bring my own or connect with Melanie?

When is the next Dallas HH? :birthday: :birthday:

Excellent!!! Glad to see you can make this one too!
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
