We're still waiting for answers to "We all know that in 1776, 13 British colonies broke away from the empire. How many colonies did the Brits have in North America at the time?"

Are you including the original four provinces of Kanata?

Are you referring to Canada? Did you know the Articles of Confederation made reference to Canada? In what context?

The original name of Canada was Kanata, an Indian term for village as I recall, named when the French still ran the joint. Your gonna make me look it up on the 'net, aren't you?

OK, here's your reference:
http://www.destinedu.../annex-b1_e.htm

"About 500 years after the arrival of the first Norse colonists, some of history's greatest explorers began making the journey across the Atlantic Ocean to this land of two million lakes, mighty rivers and vast mountain ranges. In the late 15th century, Italian Giovanni Caboto (John Cabot) made two voyages on behalf of England and discovered rich fishing grounds off the coast of Newfoundland. Less than 50 years later, Jacques Cartier arrived in the Gaspé Peninsula and claimed the land in what is now eastern Québec for France. One year later, in 1535, Cartier journeyed up the St. Lawrence River to the native village of Stadacona, on the future site of Québec City, and called it Canada - a name derived from the Huron-Iroquois "kanata," meaning a village or settlement."

Jim,

I really enjoyed that show!! Is was cool seeing a WWI and WWII ship that close!! Too bad they had all but forgot about that Cormoran until then. I liked the swin thru's they did too. Too bad that one guy died years ago while diving her. He had some good items he brought up.

Heather.

Come on out and dive it with me. I give a mean tour on both wrecks and gear it to your abilities and comfort levels. The guy was Herb Ward and I was honered to take his Daughter and Grandaughter on the dive. They have since republished the book he wrote. If you want a copy I can give you Gina's e-mail address. There is still some nice stuff to be found. However it is a park now so its called looting. Dont get me started on the local HPO! (Historic Paperwork Office)

Hope you liked the show. It was my 15min of fame. I was the local guy without the wetsuit and fins that clashed.

Cheers Jim
