Thank you everybody! I am very excited. It's been a long hard road, but I'm where I want to be.

My insurance has been paid since January. The shop I work with requires insurance to assist with students even as a Divemaster Candidate. I renewed it July 1. My dues were paid by credit card today and my application faxed. According to the shop - it's official.

Dr. Bill - I've asked more questions about professional liability than I have most other topics. Sad isn't it?

I said I could do it. I practiced. I worried. I practiced some more. I even cried about it at night. Tonight in the first 15 minutes of class, I did it. I completed the last skill required for my Divemaster certification. No fan fare, no bells and whistles. No big celebration at State Park like the other Divemasters that were in my class. Just a nice, quiet finish - perfect for me.

The paperwork is done, the checks are written.

Tonight I am a Divemaster, just waiting for my number.

This weekend I am officially a DM for the shop's OW checkout dives at Terrell.

I have so much more to learn.

WEll done, quickly change the cert level on your profile !!!!

Thank you all for the well wishes. It was very hard for me because I've never been a good swimmer. Before diving I had a fear of having my face in water. That made this one of the biggest accomplishments in my life. It was a personal thing that I wanted to conquer and I did. :-)

Thanks everyone, I do appreciate your thoughts for me.

A very special congratulations from me! We've been through the same road to becoming a DM...water issues, swimming issues but you've done it! :D

And I know you'll get lots of practice with your shop so your skills will just continue to improve even more!

The greatest fear in life is fear itself. You have overcome fear...you have a lot to be proud of! kamala

p.s. I would have wished you congrats sooner but I was in NC diving. :bye:

Never had a doubt. Way to go!!!

Thanks Kamala and Cap'n Jack.

I'm sure I'll have many more challenges ahead of me and I'm actually looking forward to it. Just to cement the swimming skills I learned, each time I go to the pool with a class I make a point to jump right into the deep end with no gear at all, repeat the 25m underwater swim and if time allows repeat the bail out. I'm very comfortable with my gear; I want to be just as comfortable without.

Kamala...that was just wrong rubbing it in about the NC diving! I've been watching the Cooper River trip.. and watching. My energy this year has been focused on DM and pushing for a promo at work. Time to slow down a little and just dive.
