Definately a good problem! :cheerleader: If I remember correctly whaleshark season in Utila is in Feb and Oct. So maybe October would be a good time for a trip?! I still like the buy 2 get one free idea though! :thankyou:

Actually the best time to go for whalesharks is end of March and into April. Feb is too cold and a bit windy. Not sure about october. I know I have been there in August and Sept and not seen any.

Update:

Spoke with Deep Blue at DEMA. Here are some options to join them in Utila this year:

1. Dive March (high season) but good chance for whalesharks approx $1200 for the week, all inclusive, full meals, ocean front rooms, refrigerator. private balcony with hammock, table & chairs, unlimited shorediving, 24hr internet, 3 boat dives a day, 2 nite dives included

2. Dive April during the WhaleShark Research Trips (filling fast) approx $1695 includes all the above but you actively seek out the whalesharks and help with actual research and tagging etc. Nightly talks on whalesharks from experts, and other work related to the gentle giants.

3. Dive Sept/Oct and hopefully catch the second whaleshark season approx $1000 for the week (same as #1) and you experience the undiscovered beauty of Utila diving in addition to seeking out the gentle giants. Water is still comfortable and air is low.

I like option #3 the best. It would give me the chance to do Bonaire and FG and recover financially to take the trip. March sounds fun but would mean making a choice between Bonaire and Utilla! Not a fun choice. :lmao:

I had already looked into this and was hoping to go during whaleshark season.
From some of the prices I saw on line these are pretty reasonable rates for this time of year.
Id like to try for the March or April trip, but will be waiting to see what you come up with.

I'm very interested in this trip. My choice would be #3, Sep./Oct. timeframe. Would probably go a week early & do Rescue cert. before group trip.

Definitely interested in this trip if you go. I have been to Roatan, and the folks I met there who dived both said the diving was better at Utila, would love to find out for myself.

#3 October looks best finacially and calander wise. Oct 1 start of FY2009@ work which means more vacation time I can borrow against. IMHO.

If we do it in fall it will now be Nov timeframe. Sept has 1-2 trips and Oct has 2 trips already (Wakatobi and NC).

Does Nov work?
