Yes its true...we are looking at Belize again for either Feb or April 2009. The main drawback I see is the rates are during high season so may not be affordable. However the diving in Belize is beautiful and the people extremely friendly and well...its a great place to be.

Let us know if you would be interested in Belize again or would you prefer something else in the Caribbean??

I'd be interested in Belize, and given that none of the other trips are currently working for me, it may be a good option. If we are looking for low season, how about November?

It won't be with Protech I'm afraid, as I've closed it down (permanently). But I am helping Kamala try to find something that works.

Sadly Peter is right...we'll miss diving with our friend and member! But he is helping me to find other operators and of course he'll still be with us and hang out which is very :birthday:

I know a lovely private island resort (http://thatchcayebelize.com/) a little over halfway down the country (off the coast at Dangriga, near to the well-known Tobacco Caye). I'm working with them to set up their dive center, though they have been doing some diving for months. A delightful place & very personal. It's cheap for what it is, and out of season when they have spare capacity they'll do a deal. I'm off down there next week to do some teaching for them.

I'd be interested in going back to Ambergris Caye, had a great time while I was there last fall. Plus, American has lowered air to $283 R/T from Philadelphiabut don't know how long that will last...

They do go down significantly. The week before Easter is over $600 r/t from Atlanta. It goes down to $224 if you fly out of ATL on 4/24 and return on 5/2 on American.

The end of April is our PNW Show where SD has TOP Billing meaning we are the FIRST booth you see when you walk into the show! :wakawaka:

However I have checked with the resort and we can do the first week in May...how do fares look to you all for then? Say May 2-9?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLPPPP!!!

Somebody...anybody...I would also be interested in the Belize trip for beginning of May, however I've checked all around, for travel that is, and all I get is in the $800+ range from MIA, even as mentioned from ATL, I still see very high rates.

Am I missing something???

Living in the wrong city??? (Don't answer this one) :-)

For $224 r/t ouf of ATL, I'd be willing to fly up there to catch that rate, but I can't find it...even checking through Sabre, I can't find any discounted rates.

As I said before....HHHHHHHHEEEEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

I just did a quick run on Kayak and got 518 RT out of FLL on continental. This is going May 2-9.

Running out of Denver, its $323 RT, on American connecting through DFW. When you look at it directly from DFW, it comes back as $768 RT. More than double. Have to love the airlines :wakawaka:

If flight times work out, and if you're prepared to spend an additional 1/2 - 1 day each way then check out flights to Cancun. It's a 5-6 hour (very comfortable) bus trip to Corozal in northern Belize, and a direct flight from there to SP. Many people do it that way, but you have to have more time than money. Most stretch it out slightly more and have a mini-holiday in Mexico as well!

From many places, especially Europe, flights to Cancun are way cheaper than flights to Belize. And there are many charter flights that go there, which offer not just lower fares but usually much more generous luggage allowances.
