Wind's starting to pick up here. The water looks so beautiful with a strong south current. Probably some nice rip currents out there too. Not exactly good diving weather in my side yard right now....Scuba_Jenny & the Hermitcrab came over for a little while. I'll be heading out in the AM.

for those a little further north, my prayers are with you- stay safe!

Well, the 11 pm path is now posted. Frances has slowed, which means she won't be hitting hard until 8:00 pm, entering at Vero Beach and staying further south in Central Florida than original planned. Tomorrow afternoon will give us a more accurate path. Go east, Frances, go east.

Also down to a Cat 3 but that is not expected to last, from what I can glean. Going back up to Cat 4.... :-D

Well, I'm back shipboard right in time for Hurricane season (need to work on that planning <smile>). I'm on a Miami based ship, but we're not going in this weekend (all these guests just went froma 4 day to a 7-8 day cruise). We're currently hiding behind Cuba waiting it out.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Frances' path.

Stay safe!!

Peace,
Cathie

Hi Marvel,

Didn't mean to pull a disapearing act :birthday: I bebop around a lot while I'm on vacation and it's difficult to keep up with anything but my e-mail.

My prayers stay with you land-based folks.....hope Frances keeps losing steam.

Peace,
Cathie

Really cool site, Jamie! But, you spend WAYYYYY too much time surfing.... :dancing:

Anyway, I've finally gotten sensible & am now out west a little at my good friend Scuba_Jenny's house. 'Course, NOW they are changing the track but, better safe than sorry....

Still thinking about & praying for all my friends & family still in the path of Frances. Stay safe, please... :cool1:

This site has been my source of info: NOAA? Check out the discussion- I've found this quite fascinating & informative throughout this whole thing.

WTNT41 KNHC 032046
TCDAT1
HURRICANE FRANCES DISCUSSION NUMBER 40
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
5 PM EDT FRI SEP 03 2004

DATA FROM A RECONNAISSANCE PLANE AND SATELLITE INDICATE THAT FRANCES
HAS CHANGED LITTLE IN ORGANIZATION DURING THE PAST FEW HOURS AND
REMAINS A DANGEROUS HURRICANE. THE INITIAL INTENSITY IS KEPT AT 100
KNOTS BUT...BASED ON RECENT OBSERVATIONS FROM THE STEPPED-FREQUENCY
MICROWAVE RADIOMETER...SFMR...INSTRUMENT ON BOARD A NOAA
AIRCRAFT...THE WIND FIELD APPEARS TO BE EXPANDING A LITTLE BIT.
THIS NECESSITATES EXTENSION OF THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING NORTHWARD
ALONG THE FLORIDA EAST COAST. THE HURRICANE HAS ABOUT 24 HOURS TO
STRENGTHEN...IF AT ALL...WHILE MOVING OVER WATER. ALTHOUGH NONE OF
THE GUIDANCE SHOW SIGNIFICANT STREGTHENING...THERE IS A SMALL
OPPORTUNITY FOR FRANCES TO RE-INTENSIFY SOMEWHAT AS IT PASSES OVER
THE GULF STREAM AND APPROACHES THE FLORIDA COAST.

AS ANTICIPATED...THE HURRICANE IS MOVING RIGHT ON TRACK WITH THE
USUAL WOBBLES. THE INITIAL MOTION IS 300 DEGREES OR WEST-NORTHWEST
AT ABOUT 7 KNOTS AND A TRACK BETWEEN THE WEST-NORTHWEST AND
NORTHWEST WITH A GRADUAL DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED
DURING THE NEXT 2 TO 3 DAYS. BECAUSE NEITHER THE STEERING NOR THE
TRACK GUIDANCE HAVE CHANGED..THERE IS NO POINT TO DISCUSS IT AGAIN.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT FRANCES...A POWERFUL HURRICANE...IS
FORECAST TO MOVE VERY SLOWLY ACROSS FLORIDA. HOWEVER...THE TIMING
AND LOCATION OF LANDFALL CAN NOT BE SPECIFIED EXACTLY.

BECAUSE FRANCES IS A SLOW MOVING HURRICANE...IT COULD BRING
TORRENTIAL RAINS TO PORTIONS OF FLORIDA.

FORECASTER AVILA

All you divers from Florida, my prayers are with you, that It will stay off the coast,
You all can come to The Texas coast and have a Hurricane Party and watch the wind blow on T.V. Take care and stay safe. Godspeed.

Orlando just had it's first feeder ban and Boca/Ft Lauderdale are now getting the beginning of the hurricane force winds. Power is off and on down in Boca. So where Marvel and Scuba Jenny are hunkered down, the worst has begun. Storm wise I'm about 24 hours behind them since it is moving so slowly, about 200 miles away. I guess West Palm Beach is getting a beating.

We are all wishing that Frances would speed up, since she is going to arrive almost a day behind of her original schedule. And the slower she goes the longer we are going to be in hurricane force winds and lots of rain.

My great neighbors not only boarded up my windows on the Northeast side of my house, they also brought the boards. I feel a whole safer now.
