Intersting. I just have one question. how does this compare to a EPIRB, the ranges are nice but that range/signal strength might not be enough in certain conditions

I will check it for you. I think the biggest issue is waterproof or not. Most EPIRB are not waterproof where as this one is.

I am expecting a full delivery update today. I will post it as soon as I get it.

DELIVERY UPDATE:

I saw the Nautilus peeps at BTS and got the following update. "When we said that the units would ship in mid to late March we meant from the manufacturer overseas and not from us. In our excitement we did not factor in time for shipment, custom clearance, final QA, repackaging and then shipment to dealers who would then ultimately ship to end users. We are very sorry for the confusion this oversight has caused."

When asked when they NOW think that we will see units in hand...I got the following reply:

"The factory has slipped a bit and they expect to ship in April but we are not sure the exact date. The pre-sales have been greater than expected so volumes have had to be increased and this has caused a slight delay of several weeks to ramp up for the projected volumes."

So if the unit ships in April it will realistically take another 2 weeks to get the product inhouse and then repackage and ship to dealers of which SingleDivers.com is one. Allowing shipment time to dealers and then turning them around to consumers will take approximately another 2 weeks so MY best guess is late May to early June before you will have them inhand.

While I wish the news were better...they have done better than most new product launches of this magnitude. And while I do not like delays any better than the next guy or gal...I would rather they get it right the first time rather than stumble with product issues due to rushing shipment timeframes.

I will continue to keep you all updated. In the meantime see the next post for the warranty info. Kamala

WARRANTY UPDATE:

As long as you are the original owner, every Nautilus Lifeline, rechargeable battery and included accessories are covered against any defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two 2 years from date of shipping with the exception of flooding damage and or exceeding 250 full discharge cycles on the battery. Your Nautilus Lifeline is warrantied against flooding damage as a result of manufacturing defect(s) for sixty (60) days from date of shipping. The battery in your Nautilus Lifeline is warrantied against failure for a maximum of 250 discharge cycles. "Failure" is defined for warranty purposes as being unable to charge the battery to 80% of the original capacity. IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS WARRANTY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER ON UNITS BOUGHT FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AT MSRP OR MAP. Refurbishment of non-flooded units is available for $100 up to 5 years from date of shipping. Refurbishment of flooded units is available for $150 up to 5 years from date of shipping. Refurbishment is only available to the original owner and not available under any circumstance after 5 years from date of shipping.

I completely understand and I too was really looking forward to using it for this trip myself.

If for any reason they arrive early I will hand carry them. But in a former life I was in int'l shipping and overseas manufacturing for a little company called GE. That is why I can read between the lines and probably understand better than they do what has to happen first before we get the units in hand.

I did see an actual prototype and it is a bit bigger than the original scale model implies. Its not that much bigger and for what it does...I don't care but the real deal will be a bit bigger than the picture implies. Kamala

p.s. of course a LOT of things look different than the real deal in person! LOL!
