OH YUMMMM!!!!

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

… Standing on the dive platform of the Odyssey anchored over the San Francisco Maru with a set of doubles on my back, a sling bottle under my arm, a good solid dive plan on my wrist slate, a buddy to experience it with and a boat full of friends to share it with when I have to get back on board!

Happiness today is the smell of freshly baked focaccia in my kitchen that others are going to eat for me.

uwfan, I started a thread like this on another forum shortly after getting out of the hospital, after having very nearly not made it out. 2.5 years later, I think it has gone past the 7000 post mark. It is good to think about the things that make us happy every day, no matter how small.

Happiness is connecting with a renewing member who saw video of my father's military escape and evasion experiences now being used to help train attendees of SERE School to avoid capture and how to remain positive if captured and never give up hope. :cool1: It really connected me to my father today. What a true gift. :thankyou:

That is a gift. I miss my Dad. Been missing him for 23 years now. I love it when people tell me stories or even tell me that I look like him, it brings him back for a moment.

You in the Low Country? Or just borrowing a great Low Country theme? I cover the LC in my work, love it. Except in August.

Happiness is:
  • Freediving in clear water
  • Hiking a high ridge with a view
  • Going some place you've never been before
  • Putting on dry clothes after a great day of diving or kayaking
  • Peter Murphy, Siouxsie & the Banshees, or The Cure on the car stereo
  • Cuddling/sleeping Platonically with a friend
  • A big bowl of Popcorn made in a pan on the stovetop
  • Cooking a big meal for someone special
  • The sound of rain on the roof late at night

Cheers,
Teresa,

But there are certainly hard times where it is NOT EASY to see them, and you have to look HARD to find them, and when you find them, you have to really FOCUS on them with intention if they are to become bigger and the rest smaller.

In those early days after I started my happiness thread, my happiness was about things like getting to wear underwear for the first time in 9 days, taking a bath without needing help, being in MY bed, and so on. All of the little things we take for granted every day which had been taken away from me for a while.

Don't really know if this was a Cherokee lesson or not, but I've always liked it:

A Cherokee Legend
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

That's a beautiful story! This morning brings sunshine and the snow has stopped - but it is truly a world of white here. A beautiful thing and it makes me happy. :)

Happiness is working hard to help a friend see things for they are...and not for what they may appear. And while the effort is not easy it will be worth the effort and therefore I am happy for the chance to help my friend and our friendship.

It is so very beautiful when the world is white. Enjoy. I remember seeing Bogue Banks in NC covered in snow once. Quite otherwordly as it rarely snows there. And I remember when the world stopped, and completely, when we got several feet of snow here in Raleigh in a freak snowstorm. Can't imagine what it looks like up there in Mountain Country.

Nature gives us so much beauty, joy, peace, serenity, etc if we will just open our eyes.I have spent a lot of times outdoors in the past couple of years seeking and finding it. It is one of the reasons I do not shoot pictures underwater. I am meditating and enjoying the experience in a very spiritual and elemental way that I don't think will be compatible with the task loading of picture taking.
