Fit Enough to Dive?

 

Let's face it...at some point we reach the inevitable question...are we fit enough to dive?  The good news is that diving requires less overall fitness than most other sports and possibly all other sports sans maybe yoga. However we need some level of general fitness to enjoy our sport and ensure we stay safe doing it.

 

So who's up for getting into shape?

  • How about some camaraderie with others wanting to accomplish the same thing?
  • And maybe learn from others simpler ways of doing things?
  • Well here is a way to use the power of our group to build help each other GET FIT TO DIVE!!!

We'll keep it simple ...Go for a walk, do a few wall push up's, a little stretching and soon we'll all feel better and more importantly...we'll enjoy our sport better and continue to enjoy our love of diving LONGER!!!  We'll simply use the topic below to track our progress and keep each motivated and hold ourselves accountable.

 

So who's in?

I plan to do this but its hard to stay motivated. So maybe you all can help me and we can all keep each other motivated?  Thanks and hoping others join me!

Ok I'll start! ;)

 

GOALS:

 

  1. I'm going to walk at least 15 mins a day
  2. I'm going to do some easy stretching
  3. I'm going to do 10-15 wall push ups using my body weight to force my non existent muscles try and build back again (Yeah I'm that out of shape!) :wacko:

 

HOW:

 

I'll report my progress daily as to what I did and any tips I pick up along the way.

 

WHY:

 

Of course to dive easier and just get my bags in the overhead!  And just to feel better! A little every day adds up and is never wasted!  Just hoping others will join me!

Wahoo for you!!!  Since I rescued my dog, she could not even walk 1 mile per day, we are now up to walking 3.5 miles per day and on the days we hike it's up to 5 miles!!  Good Luck, I will be right there with you.

I have been trying to walk a couple miles per day for a while.  After watching the air mysteriously disappear from my tank, faster than it used to, on the Roatan trip, I returned home and started to try and do 2 walks per day.  I need to get more exercise.  I also moved the stationary bike from the out of the way place, to a spot in front of the TV.  Either it will get used more there, or I will get more exercise having to walk around or over it.  Either way, it is a reminder now.  Add me to the list.  I got a 2 mile walk in this morning between the rain showers.  Another thing I am trying is an air fryer.  I have been seasoning a chicken breast and cooking it in the air fryer several times a week.  Very easy, and should be healthier for me than what I would otherwise eat.  Ed

I have been trying to walk a couple miles per day for a while.  After watching the air mysteriously disappear from my tank, faster than it used to, on the Roatan trip, I returned home and started to try and do 2 walks per day.  I need to get more exercise.  I also moved the stationary bike from the out of the way place, to a spot in front of the TV.  Either it will get used more there, or I will get more exercise having to walk around or over it.  Either way, it is a reminder now.  Add me to the list.  I got a 2 mile walk in this morning between the rain showers.  Another thing I am trying is an air fryer.  I have been seasoning a chicken breast and cooking it in the air fryer several times a week.  Very easy, and should be healthier for me than what I would otherwise eat.  Ed

OK I'm in!!!  My goals:

 

1.  Elliptical for 15 minutes a day.

2.  Cut down on carbs

3.  Do more stretching like pilates or yoga

Yesterday, 13,879 steps, 7.6 miles walking.  Walked my dog 3.5 miles, walked with friend in the mall 3.3 miles it's 7 degrees here.  the rest was just my daily activities.  Also doing a 7 minute video, kidks your butt.  

 

Today so far it's still -4 at 9:30.  Probably won't get all that walking in today!

So this morning, I pulled up a yoga video and got through it.  I have never had flexibility even at a young age.  I don't expect to lift my leg above my head with ease (my daughter can)... I just want improved flex.

I got out to walk twice today.  3 miles this morning, and a mile and a half this afternoon.  We are in the midst of daily rain, so I am trying to find a break between showers to walk.

Good morning, Happy Valentines Day and happy fitness.  Did walk yesterday 3.0 miles in 3 degree weather, total of 5.6 total miles walking for the day and that 7 minute killer video!!
