Well I'm all excited about signing up, but now I have lots of questions... ok maybe not LOTS but here ya go.

* I didn't see a spot on the site to pay for my trip. Did I miss it someplace?

* The dive said advance open water... can I do that cert while I am there, or is open water good enough?

* Do folks usually buddy up for rooms or does everyone get their own?

* If Advace Open water is required ( :dltears: ) are there other sites that I can go on so I can still attend. (I feel like the kid asking the parents "Will there be things for us kids to do :wavey: )

Ok... thats all I can think of right now...

Well I'm all excited about signing up, but now I have lots of questions... ok maybe not LOTS but here ya go.

All questions are good questions...thanks for asking so that others can also learn!

* I didn't see a spot on the site to pay for my trip.  Did I miss it someplace?

The dive reservation system I use called Aquatrix does allow for online reservations, booking and payments. I do not have the payment feature fully activated...I will when it is fully set up under SingleDivers.com

* The dive said advance open water... can I do that cert while I am there, or is open water good enough?

All the dives are 80-120 ft so that is why we usually ask for AOW or the equivelent. These dives may exceed your training and diving experience depending on how many dives you have. For others who have been diving for awhile or all their dives have been deep....the AOW is not a hard and fast rule but it serves as a guideline. We also look for about 40 dives under your belt...not a hard number but a number that means you are comfortable with your gear and the basics of diving. It also means that you've gotten familiar with your own air consumption....its no fun to be watching some really cool sharks or seeing an awesome wreck to then discover that you have only 500 psi left or less and are no where close to the anchor line...your dive buddy is MIA and you are over 100ft. If you have less then 30-40 dives then you are on the road to getting the experience you need and I know you will love NC. You could probably do it ok but its better to experience NC when you have more dives under your belt then less...why not maximize the fun you can have there!! It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity!!!

* Do folks usually buddy up for rooms or does everyone get their own?

The rooms are part of the package...you can opt for single or double occupancy! Most people go with d/o on this trip...and I do a great job of helping you pair up with an awesome roommate!

* If Advace Open water is required ( :dltears: ) are there other sites that I can go on so I can still attend.  (I feel like the kid asking the parents "Will there be things for us kids to do  :wavey: )

Yes there are a few wrecks in the area that are only about 60 ft to the bottom but we don't usually dive on them unless we are doing a 4-5 day diving trip. Since they are more shallow...that means they are closer to shore which means that the water is 3-5 degrees cooler and as much as 20-30ft less vis. The Gulf Stream flows in toward the shore so where it mixes with the Atlantic it will be a bit cooler and less clear.

Ok... thats all I can think of right now...

:lam:

No problem....great questions...thanks for asking them! I hope to see you on a dive soon. Depending on your diving experiences to date...we have trips for all levels and all experiences! -ww

1. Standard Scuba Gear (suggest non-split fins in case you need to swim against any current...often slight but sometimes noticeable!)

Grrrrrrrrr ..... split fins .... agent of the devil!

Roughly the equivalent of .... oh, never mind - I'll get moderator action for sure!

All.. well upon further review... I'm going to have to pass. It sounds really really cool, but unfortunately it is way over my head (get it, over my head.. ).. So I am going to have to pass this year. I have signed up for the Roatan trip which is much more my speed at this point.

scott, do both! after roatan, you'll have more than enough dives under your belt @ the depth required to make NC a blast! i would, but i had to choose between the two.

OK ....

After demo-ing my first set of split fins I found them to be utterly pointless. The analogy I used was that they're kind of like masturbating with a condom on - a whole lot of flailing about with nothing productive to show for it.
