PROGRESS CHECK:

What one thing have your learned about yourself during this process so far? Thanks for sharing!

One of the main things I've learned and try to keep remembering is that it's not how much you do to help yourself get in shape, it's the actual trying with purpose and keeping positive knowing you are doing what you can when you can.

That's great Amy!!!

Anyone else?

That is very true Amy.  I have spent a lot of years dealing with back pain, and have had to exercise how I can, when I can.  Keeping positive is key.  I believe that having a group like this helps a lot also.  Seeing all that others are doing helps inspire me to continue exercising each day.  I started the beginning of December myself.  Kamala started this post a month or so after, and my consistency in exercising has remained thanks to it.

Thanks Ed! I was hoping this would do just that for those participating. And for those who are not part of of the Galapagos Get Fit topic Ed just returned from Galapagos basically hours ago and here is what he wrote in the other topic WOW WHAT GREAT INSPIRATION!!

After dealing with a couple of life altering issues in 2019 and 2020, I started exercising back in December.  After seeing how bad my air consumption was on the Roatan trip in January, I increased the exercise.  Although I didnt really notice much improvement for about 3 months, I stuck with it with the inspiration of the Get Fit post that Kamala started in Feb.  I did notice decent air consumption improvement on a Feb trip to the Bahamas, and definitely saw the benefits while on my just ended Galapagos trip.  Air was much better.  It was easier getting into the boat.  I handled the currents easier, while holding a large camera.  Stick with it.  You will appreciate the benefits while on your trip next year.  Ed

UPDATES AND INSPIRATION:

1. Amy who has been updating our progress chart in the first post of this topic is off having some much needed "Sea" time aka diving! She will hopefully catch up when she returns all refreshed and jazzed up! :thankyou: for all your help Amy!

2. I want to thank those who have been posting and participating! It truly warms my heart that people are making baby strides and giant strides!! :respect:

3. I wanted to include something I found related to anyone hoping to lose a little weight during this journey...

Keep to a meal routine: eat at roughly the same times each day. People who succeed at long term weight loss tend to have a regular meal rhythm (avoidance of snacking and nibbling). A consistent diet regimen across the week and year also predicts subsequent long-term weight loss maintenance

With trying to catch up with everything that was waiting for me when I returned home from my recent trip, having the back start acting up a little, and catching a mild case of the flu, I have been slow to get back to the exercise.  I did a 1 mile walk Thursday, and a 1.5 mile walk this morning.  It felt good to get those walks in, and I am looking forward to feeling up to extending them next week.  Ed

Kamala, yes Amy is bbbaaacckkk updating everyone tonight! lol.  The meal routine is such a great suggestion.  When I met with a dietician, she said the exact same things you are!  Thank you for reminding me of these facts that WORK!
