Divers dating divers myth or fact?

In November 2003 I went on a cruise and went snorkeling. It was awesome, but I wanted more. My friend back home was a SCUBA instructor, so I knew I would get certified by him. Of course November in the Destin area is getting cold, so I had to wait. The waters were just warming up (for me) in May 2004.
I met Genesis online the last weekend in May, and he said he was a diver. I thought that was cool since I wanted to get certified.
After finally getting with Rob we setup my classes starting July 4th. By July 12th I had my OW, EANx, and AOW! I was totally hooked!!!
Of course now I can't break up with Genesis, cause replacing him would be nearly impossible... diver... 2 boats... LOL!!!
I could not see dating a non-diver myself, unless he was to go golf or something else while I was on the boat with all the SCUBA guys and cabana boys!!!

Babylon 5!!!!!!!the majority of male divers are older, and/or married or somewhat younger and total tech company gearheads that want to talk to you about Babylon 5!
thats to cool.
i remember this one episode, where the Klingons were gonna attack the space station and interrupt the treaty talks between the Ferengis and the Trolobytes,
man, that was sooo cool.
and that was the summer we went to DragonCon in Atlanta, so cool. i had my Star Trek: Deep Space Nine t-shirt on.
and then...
and then...
and then...

I won't date anyone who does not dive. It is how I want to spend my vacations and summertime in FL.

Dating non-divers doesn't work
Well, not always. I had a non-diving girlfriend who loved being shore support (I do a lot of shore diving). She liked hanging out on the beach and having goodies ready. Don't ask why I didn't hang on to her, long story.
Dating women who say they want to dive doesn't work, they never ever get certified.
In some cases that's a good thing. Like my last girlfriend, whom I talked OUT of learning to dive because she would have been a total pain-in-the-ass as a buddy. She was a "city girl" to the core. She was always complaining about how handling all the gear before and after looked like a lot of "work", and all her actions were centered around not damaging her precious fake nails, ruining her make-up, mussing up her hair, avoiding anything that looked "icky". And she wants to learn to dive? Forget it!

Jennifer - I couldn't agree more. There were some serious women divers on the Coz trip - us being some of them! I can't imagine dating a non diver - too much to be shared - even if you don't always dive together - you can still share your stories with each other. When people ask me why I love to dive so much - I try to explain the feeling to them - as much as I try I don't think you can truly make someone understand how it is "down under" unless they too have witnessed it.You have clearly been taking the wrong trips! At least the ratio is more evenly distributed on SD trips, and you'd have a chance to meet some of the TX or FL (or insert state here) female divers. Some of us are more addicted to diving than you guys are!
Seriously, I think there is a lot to be said for finding someone who already dives and isn't doing it (or any other hobby) to please you or to be with you. And on the flip side, it would be very challenging to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't enjoy the same activities you are passionate about and prefers to sit on the sidelines while you do your thing.

I know that I am not a "great diver" (yet). I am also not so sure I am a good humper. But on both counts, I am willing to learn...and no insecurities! So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed there's some great diver guy out there for me...maybe one that will hump my doubles... :anna:
