Hey Jennifer!
I thought of a couple of other bands that I think you'd really enjoy.

I've been a fan of Social Distortion for probably 20 years now, and they are one of the consistently good live shows I've ever seen. They were punks back in the day, and now it's just good guitar-chord fun. Try their live CD (I was at that show at the Roxy), and "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" but the new one's great, too "Sex, Love, and Rock and Roll."

Another great live band is the Young Dubliners. Celtic rock, although they've been steadily moving away from the "celtic" and more towards the "rock." I'd recommend starting with the CD "Red" and see what you think.

If you like the Donnas, you might also like Slunt (catchy name, huh?). I saw them as the opening band for Marilyn Manson last year and really liked them.

Also, just found out that the opening slot for Tool on this tour is Isis! Very cool prog-metal; think of a cross between Tool and Ministry and Deftones. Listen to 'em here:

Rock on!

Wow! The hits just keep on coming! Yes, The name "Slunt" is very catchy  I'll definitely check out Young Dubliners. Two of my favorite bands are Irish (or Irish descent) Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly. I have not listened to Social Distortion in years! Thanks for the heads up!

Sunday the 13th was Ozzfest. Great bands, but way too damn HOT!! Loved Lacuna Coil, BTW. Also Atreyu and Black Label Society rocked. Disturbed was freaking amazing live!! System of a Down did not impress me though. Sound better on radio/CD.
OH WHATEVER!!

No, I have not seen Tool yet, but they are supposed to come here in the fall I think. I am supposed to see Staind, Three Days Grace ,and Hinder in Sept at Hard Rock Live. Should be a good one too.

I have heard many good things about Lacuna Coil, so they were already on my "check it out" list. I will be most diligent in my listening/hang banging duties to be able to provide you with a full report. :)

My friends call it hate music too. Which, I guess if you listen to some of the lyrics, they're right. But to me a good song is a good song, period. I have turned more than a few to the dark side, though. :)

OK, Jennifer ... guess where I'm going tonight. Here's a hint..................

I'm going be be crashing hard... big time... both my mp3 players have bit the dust... I went music-less today at the gym - I could only manage half my normal cardio routine - nothing to keep the blood pumping.... My only vestiage left is an ipod mini thats been sitting on the shelf - but all my CD's are ripped in WMA - damn you microsoft & apple......

Judging by the conversations - it appears I'm in good company. Albums in the current rotation:
Angels and Airwaves (offshoot of Bink-182) - We don't need to whisper
Social D's - Sex, Love & Rock n Roll....
Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory
Apocyloptica - Reflections
Flyleaf

Saw Flogging Molly back before I moved from Chicago - good show, Dropkick Murphy's put on a good one too... I was listening to the radio the other day - it appears they have some new stuff out... Surprisingly - last REALLY good show I saw was Goldfinger - in spite of all the PETA/vegan ramblings interlaced into the show...

Mmmmmm .... I love vegans .... they taste just like chicken!

Great to see another Social D fan!

BTW, Tool was f-ing AMAZING last night!! :o The first time they've ever played Wings for Marie (1&2) live.

By the way, if you want something that's solid from start to finish that'll really get your blood going at the gym, check out Lamb of God's new CD "Sacrament".

Hey Jamie, glad you enjoyed the Tool show. Wish I coulda been there. There are supposed to be coming here too, but no word on when. Almost drove 4.5hrs to Tampa to see Korn, but the responsible adult in me took over since it was a Wednesday night.

Hey netmage, welcome to the SD headbangers club! Current members: now 3!! Sorry about your music woes. I feel your pain. Had my car's CD player die on me on a road trip across the Everglades (read: no radio stations). 2 hours with no music felt like two years.

There are no southeast US dates on the tour scheduled as of this point, unfortunately.

However, for our Austin, Texas fans (Tool is in the Lone Star State this week), if you want to catch a really cool show, opening band Isis will be performing at Emo's in Austin, Texas (603 Red River - off Sixth Street) on Wednesday, September 13th. Think of a metal Pink Floyd as a comparison.

Saw Korn a few months ago (with Mudvayne, who is always awesome). You'll be glad you didn't go. They have lost much of the edge they used to have and the show is pretty inconsistent.

Thanks. I feel better I think. Saw Mudvayne in April. Yes, they were awesome. Still looking forward to Staind/Hinder/Three Days Grace/Black Stone Cherry later this month.

Well, that means you have or heard Violator, but being a DM worshipper I have to say they have too much to choose from. Of course it's not all in the videos I posted :wavey:

but HE ALWAYS DOES IT FOR ME, I mean HIS music :twist:

True ... but then again I like ALL of Johnny Cash's covers better. His cover of U2's One is jawdropping.
