  • Accommodations

Blue Waters Inn has been a well-kept secret in the Caribbean for well over a hundred years. The 46-acre estate went through many transformations- sugar plantation, animal sanctuary, Bird watching hotel (The original Bird of Paradise Inn), Spearfishing school (Camp Crusoe), Boy Scout’s camp. It also changed hands many times, mostly an asset of the Tucker descendants, but spending a brief stint in the hands of the famous Guinness family dynasty. Today it stands as what we believe it was meant to be – an intimate resort offering a truly unique Caribbean experience to the world.

We offer more than just the typical sun-and-sand vacation, though being situated in our own private bay with a strip of gold beach and an expanse of turquoise water certainly does appeal to that. With our close proximity to some of the world’s best dive spots, the oldest bird sanctuary in the western hemisphere, and an unrivalled serenity and intimacy, we believe that we can offer something extraordinary. Enhanced by lush surroundings, luxurious accommodation and delectable dining, we strive to create the distinctive Blue Waters experience.

Tobago boasts a few incredible waterfalls, ranging in size and strength. The three-tiered Argyle Falls happens to be nearby and is one of the best on the island. It is Tobago’s highest waterfall, tumbling 54m (175ft) in a series of steeped cascades, with several pools for swimming at the bottom. There is a slight hike to the falls, about 15 minutes, and easy enough for children to navigate. A tour guide must be organized.

    Glass Bottom Boat Tours

How do you get wet while staying dry? Now you can explore the depths, spy on parrot fish, and navigate sea fan gardens, without dipping a toe into the blue. Sign up for one of the daily tours in a boat fitted with a glass bottom, the perfect window to the ocean’s treasures!

    Cocoa Tour

Imagine a day celebrating chocolate! Now you can, with a walkabout tour of Tobago Cocoa Estate W.I. Ltd, a heritage park where visitors can learn about the history of cocoa in Tobago, see historical displays and participate in the fermentation and drying activities at the estate. Finally, you can experience the agro-culinary approach to tourism and participate in a rum and chocolate tasting session after an evening of dinner that showcases the local cuisine of Tobago. • Travel Details

    FLIGHT INFO

There are still very few direct flights to Tobago's A.N.R.Robinson International Airport (previously known as Crown Point International (TAB). Fortunately, Trinidad's Piarco International Airport (POS) benefits from a wide range of regional and international flights. A regular airbridge service handles the 25-minute transfer between the two islands. A frequent inter-island air-bridge service transports passengers between the twin islands and the inter-island ferry service will be of interest to some travellers. Please check online or with your travel agent for pricing and schedule information. If you would like SingleDivers.com to research and/or book your airfare ticket for you, we will be happy to do so for a $30 research & booking fee.

  • Diving & Itinerary

    DIVING

If Tobago is diving’s best kept secret, then Blue Waters Inn is the heart of that secret, as we are surrounded by some of the most phenomenal dive sites in the region. Blue Waters Inn Dive’N is the onsite PADI 5 Star IDC facility and our highly qualified instructors can guide you beneath the blue horizon to these fascinating underwater sites, just minutes from our private dock. Our dives range from beginners navigating Angel Reef, to intermediate and advanced drift dives such as Japanese Gardens, London Bridge and Blackjack Hole.

    REVIEW

I really enjoyed Tobago year before last after we were in Grenada together! And I wasn't staying at as great a place as this upcoming Singledivers trip but was within walking distance so same dive sites. Unfortunately, there'd been some storming and viz was mostly poor, currents were incredible, and on my last day, as these things happen, viz cleared up, currents slowed and it was magical. There are a few sites that have a carpet of damselfish. Quite something to see! Huge sponges bent by the current. - S. Larson via Facebook

  • Experience Required & Training/Workshops

    Experience Required

The vast majority of diving on Tobago is drift diving, which has major advantages. When currents are mild (0-1.5 knots), it requires little effort and divers simply go along with the ride, gliding through the underwater scenery while the current does the work. This kind of drift diving is common in Tobago. You can cover a substantial distance; often as much as two kilometres. Several sites frequently experience current of two or three knots, so demand advanced drift diving techniques. Sea currents vary enormously, with a minimal 0-0.25 knots on the Caribbean coast and upwards of a quarter knot on the Atlantic coast. Locals in Speyside refer to one area as the African Express because of its regular four-knot current. The Guyana Current truly provides Tobago with some of the most exhilarating diving rides in the world.

    Training & Workshops

There are no SingleDivers.com training activities nor workshops currently planned for this trip.  We are happy to check with the resort about doing training during your trip and what they would charge. Often they will give us a better price so feel free to ask us to assist.  If you would like us to help arrange additional training for you, simple click in the SUPPORT tab in the main menu and then click on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and click on TRIP ADMINISTRATION and request assistance.

We will also check to see if any of our trip participants are instructors who would like to teach on the trip and let you know.  We are glad you are interested in continuing your dive education and we hope we can help you continue your goal of ongoing training.

  • Insurance, Documentation, and T&C's

    INSURANCE

DIVE Insurance is required! DIVE insurance is VERY inexpensive. Even if you have insurance that you think covers DIVING ACCIDENTS and air lifts…it is CHEAP (approx $100) to get a supplemental policy to ensure you are covered for an entire year of diving.

    We recommend:

Dive Assure: for either a 'one time' policy OR an annual policy for BOTH Dive & Trip Insurance providing PRIMARY COVERAGE with excellent rates and coverage! Please reference SingleDivers.com via the drop-down menu under GLOBAL PARTNERS. (If you can not find the drop down, do not reference anyone and email info@singledivers.com your policy info and we will do it for you via our Dive Assure company representative.)

Diver's Alert Network: Please use our reference number when ordering: ID1603080   (This only works if you are a new first time DAN member.)

Trip Insurance is STRONGLY SUGGESTED and/or required (depending on the trip)!  TRIP insurance is VERY inexpensive. Even if you have insurance that you think covers your trip…it is CHEAP (approx $100-$200) to get a supplemental policy to ensure you are covered for your investment in your dive trip. If you opt to not get trip insurance you are responsible for all losses related to your trip including not going for any reason.

    We recommend:

Dive Assure: for either a 'one time' policy OR an annual policy for BOTH Dive & Trip Insurance with excellent rates and coverage! Please reference SingleDivers.com via the drop-down menu under GLOBAL PARTNERS. (If you can not find the drop down, do not reference anyone and email info@singledivers.com your policy info and we will do it for you via our Dive Assure company representative.)

    DOCUMENTATION

All SingleDivers.com trips require necessary documentation to facilitate booking your trip and/or making it a better experience for you.  Once you complete your documents online our automated system will take the information from your last trip with us and fill out your new trip forms for you. You then add any missing information and/or change anything that is no longer current. You will find the forms you need to complete under MY TRIPS which you will find under TRIPS in the main menu across the top of the site. Since each trip requires a unique set of docs, please choose the correct trip from your "My Trips" drop down and then complete the forms required for that trip. Some trips will also ask you to complete the resort or liveaboard's forms as well.

The AIR AUTHORIZATION FORM is only required when you are having SingleDivers.com book air for you but this includes air that is part of the trip pkg price.

Not all of our forms are online as they are either infrequently used or being phased out. If you need a form that is not in our online directory, simply click on SUPPORT on the main menu and then click on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and choose TRIP ADMINISTRATION and ask for the form you need.

    TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Questions & ongoing updates

We understand that 'more is usually better' when it comes to information about your upcoming dive vacation. However we can never anticipate every question you may have so we have no problems answering anything we did not include or anything you do not fully understand. In fact we were founded using "Forums" which easily facilitates Q&A and basically talking to each other in an ongoing electronic format. Today we utilize several 'communications mechanism's which still include our forums called the "Surface Interval" but also our Help Ticket System, Knowledge Base and FAQ.

    HOW TO ASK A QUESTION

You can ask questions about our trips in two easy ways.

    1. Use our Surface Interval FORUMS to ask questions in the specific trip topic/thread. You can always find this by clicking on the turquoise button that says FORUM THREAD found at the top and bottom of each trip's details.
    2. You can use our Help Ticket System to ask a question by clicking on the SUPPORT tab in the main menu and then clicking on SUBMIT HELP TICKET and then clicking on TRIP ADMINISTRATION.  We will reply to your question as soon as we can and post the replies in the TRIP THREAD in our Forums. We will also move appropriate questions to our FAQ's and Knowledge Bases.

    ONGOING UPDATES

We use several tools to keep EVERYONE on a trip updated. They are ALL vitally important for you to monitor and stay apprised of. They are as follows:

    1. The "Welcome to the Trip" PM (private message via our FORUMS) which is sent to as soon as you sign up for the trip. You can not receive these unless you are a Premier member or above. As soon as you either pay or show interest in the trip thread/topic we'll send you this PM. It has helpful info about signing up for the trip and will be used THROUGHOUT the pre-trip process to keep you updated on critical things regarding your trip with us.
    2. The Trip Topic in our FORUMS (the first post has the trip details in it) and subsequent posts will contain ongoing questions and updates. We also start separate topics for important trip related matters. Please click on the FORUM THREAD  button to be taken to the Trip Discussion Thread/Topic for this particular trip. PLEASE monitor these for IMPORTANT UPDATES that affect your trip.
    3. The FAQ, KNOWLEDGE BASE & HELP TICKET SYSTEM. When in the main site you'll always be able to click on the SUPPORT tab on the main menu and find the Help Ticket System, Knowledge Base, Glossary and FAQ. Every time someone ask a question we we will file it in the appropriate TRIP KNOWLEDGE BASE and/or FAQ as well as posting it on in the FORUMS Trip Thread. This will allow you to find the information you need in one of several places making it easier for you to get the information you need and ask the questions you want.
