Oh, joy. My divorce is [finally] going to be final in 3 weeks, and THIS is the current dating scene??? I think I'll just make friends, and if something develops from that, :dontthinkso:

Not sure if jellyfishluv has been married before but she is still a 'youngin' so in the prime dating scene.

Having just left it and been part of it all my life...it was always a bit of a downer to me. Its like needing a loan... a bank ONLY wants to lend money to those who don't need it. And men only want to be in relationships with women who don't want one. :thankyou:

Never been married. Was never against it, just never met anyone. I was a bit of a fire-cracker, perhaps I still am.

But look, I'm not a bad looking gal (could lose some weight still) and I believe I'm somewhat intelligent, and when I demand what I think I deserve, I'm called every name in the book and victimized sometimes, by stupid people.

But you know what... I've got to change the subject now. I'm done- only happy thoughts :wakawaka:

Nothing wrong with it, just make sure you have your kevlar and nomex gloves on cause when you play with fire you might just get burned if you not careful :tears:.

Far be it from me to act like any kind of expert on dating or relationships. I haven't found "the answer" for myself, so one should take my observations with a substantial grain of sea salt.

Having said that, though, I think your proposed approach is the best way to do it, LDN. When you get to know people outside of courting/dating/romantic-relationship-building, I think you get to see a little more of their "real" personality. When courting or dating, we all have a tendency to put on a show, either what we want the other person to see, or what we think the other person wants to see.

Simply expanding your social circles, getting out of your routines and making friends, getting to experience people without you putting on a show or having to filter through someone else's show is a great way to find out who people "really" are. That puts you in a better position to evaluate who you think you'd be compatible with.

The downside is it takes a lot of time and patience. And it can leave you tempted to jump in the pool because you can find yourself starved for attention, affection, sex, companionship, etc.

$0.02.

Now I'm off to take my own damn advice. lol

Oh wise sage...it is indeed good advice to heed! And now you know one of the PRIME reasons SingleDivers.com was created...to just go dive....

yes with other solo, single, buddyless divers.... BUT NOT A DATING THING...NOT A HOOKUP THING...rather a DIVING THING!!!

And guess what? Chemistry has happened and its been good. For a non-dating site we have had 6 marriages, several more engagements and even the first baby! :cool1:

And these relationships are STRONGER cuz when they met...they had their hair down, (probably dripping wet) and they were 'just themselves'...nothing false, fake or contrived. Not too bad for only being 6 years old and NOT focused on dating/relationships! :cool2:

But one of the best complements I've ever rec'd is... it sure is nice to dive with so many fun, outgoing, diverse people and not have any pressure to hook up or feel you have been left out because you did not hook up. Now that is PRICELESS!!! :respect:

So I can't wait for you to come and 'dive with us'!!! :teeth:
