IMPORTANT TRIP UPDATE:
I am checking into a charter contract with several companies so that we can fly Sat to Sat rather than Friday and Sunday like the normal scheduled air. It will also be a bit cheaper on the air. So please hold off booking anything for FLL to BIM for a few days until I know what we can get set up.

I'm hoping to make this one my first liveaboard. I'm in the process of changing jobs, so I'll need to make sure that the new boss will give me the time off. Luckily, when I left my last job they had to pay me for 250 hours of unused vacation time, so I've got that going for me.

Great idea WW, as I noted in my post I have saved quite a bit of money chartering flights into BIM and then you can request approximate flight times and possibly have more weight allowance per passenger. Shadragon, you may want to consider whether your free ride is worth the airline miles if the per person charter fee is good and includes more baggage weight and great flight times. Well, if you're laid off for 5 months of the year and not allowed to take vacation and work 700 hours of overtime during the other 7 months, then it kind of builds up. Got to love the life of a federal wildland firefighter. Then when I moved to New Mexico I had a schedule where I worked 8 days then had 6 off, so I didn't use much then either.
