Now I won't have to worry about rigging up a laryngeo-tracheo-stomal regulator for you.

Keep us posted on your progress.

(As for punky's comment about you being more kissable, I may steal one sometime. )

Well I'm heading towards my 5th day of freedom from tobacco, I really don't have any close calls to report or any strong cravings. I'm not even doing this to make others happy or feel like I would be letting someone down if I failed. The only worry I had going into this plan was that I would eat us out of house and home and I would be unbearable to be around Hmmm nothing to report there either..well..I had some sunflower seeds yesterday and a apple today outside of my regular meals. I'm starting to have less faith in the patch and more faith in me. The best I can figure, quiting is mostly a mental thing. when I think of a cigarette I think of two things.

1. Its like a long time friend and you just found out that they have been stabbing you in the back the whole time you have known them and all they really wanted was your money..ya I know its sounds weird to put a human aspect to a plant.

2. Reminds me of an employee I had once that walked into my shop one day and told me I couldn't run my business without him. I kindly asked him for the total hours he had worked that week and payed him right then , then helped him load his tools into his truck and said bye.

My Quiting experience as of tonight..
20% patch
50% mind over matter
30% support from friends, which some of them I havnt even meet yet. :D

My Dad told me today that he quit smoking on Sunday!!

Marie,
Hows your Dad doing on the quiting thing..

just checking

Bubski

He is doing well!! Thanks. I checked in with him this am and he appears to be doing great with it. The incentive of xtra spending money helped. He reads anything and everything he can gets his hands on.

I really hope it gets easier for you as the hours and days pass. Very proud that you, and others, can beat that enemy!! Maximum Respect :D

:respect: Bubski, you get past today and it's all an easy slide from here! But keep busy this weekend, even if you have to tackle that "honey-do" list finally! :) You'll find that by Monday, the physical habit is gone and all you'll have to do then is ignore the occassional thoughts of cigs.

You're almost there! Keep strong, my friend.

That sounds yummy :D

The Ultimate Challenge

Evening of day 5
Today Jo'l and I drove 45 min to do some shopping. And food is starting to taste better so I asked her if we could stop by a Chinese buffet place OMG the peppered chicken in vegetables, fried rice, shrimp in something ?, pork on a stick etc..well you know when the waitress come by with the ticket and the fortune cookies that they are asking you to leave :welcome: and then a 45 min drive back. BTW this whole week and open pack of cigarettes have only been about 20 ft away and I will NOT Smoke for-get-abbot-it ! I draw strength from different area's in my life and my past experiences. The "patch" is a 8 week program and I promise I wont bore you with a bunch of junk and silly stuff. This is my story and I'm sticking to it !. I'm not sure if I'm posting a Blog or a Diary ?..Ok a couple more post on SD and I'm going to bed.

Congrats and stay strong. After a week it"s more of a mental game. But dude if possible have someone remove that open pack of butts into the trash can and remove all ash trays from your living space. TEMPTATION is the root of all EVIL!!!

Thanks Monkey Diver It is a challenge for sure.

Scubaski I could ask the owner of the pack of butts to remove them, or I could ask the owner/gf to move, but in any case I have to live in a world of smokers just as you and everybody else does. fortunately smoking is becoming less socially acceptable and the smokers will be taxes out of there habit or maybe someday they will pay $30 per pack?. Its not my call anymore I'm just doing what I need to do and one of things is to start my Dive Kitty today :D
